Staff and shoppers at Tesco Express on Dorchester Road, Weymouth, are rallying behind a fundraising raffle to support Alzheimer’s Society.

The store, located near Weymouth College, has already raised £400 through ticket sales in just a few days and donations are flooding in, with a target of £1,000 in sight. Local businesses and members of the public have donated prizes to help boost the cause.

The fundraiser is being spearheaded by Tesco colleague Will Scott, who recently lost his Nan to Alzheimer’s. Will is also taking part in Memory Walk 2025 in her memory, raising further funds for the charity.

Will, who works at the store, recently lost his Nan after her five-year battle with Alzheimer’s. He remembers how much she enjoyed attending the charity’s memory cafés, which offered her companionship and support.

So far, the store has raised £400, with shoppers, local businesses and members of the public donating prizes and buying tickets.

“All proceeds go directly to Alzheimer’s Society, which provides vital services such as memory cafés, care, and research,” Will said.

Tickets for the raffle are available in store, with the draw supported by both the business community and local residents.
