Yellow Rain Warning Issued for Weymouth and Dorset

The UK Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain covering Weymouth and much of Dorset, warning of periods of heavy rainfall through Thursday.

The warning is in effect from the morning until late evening and highlights the potential for surface water flooding, particularly on roads and in low-lying areas. The Met Office says rainfall totals of 20–30 mm are expected widely, with higher localised amounts possible.

Forecasters note that while impacts are expected to be limited, spray and standing water on roads may lead to slower journey times, and some flooding of drains and poor drainage areas is possible.

The Environment Agency has also issued flood alerts for parts of the Weymouth area, advising that flooding of low-lying land and roads may occur as river levels respond to continued rainfall. No severe flood warnings are currently in place.

Residents are advised to monitor updates from official sources and take routine precautions during heavy rain, including avoiding driving through floodwater and checking local travel conditions.
