Severe Delays on Weymouth–Dorchester Relief Road Due to Emergency Roadworks
Motorists are facing severe delays on the relief road between Weymouth and Dorchester today after temporary two-way traffic lights were installed at Monkton Hill.
Traffic is reported to be at its worst on the approach to the Stadium Roundabout, where average speeds have dropped to around 10mph. Long queues have built up during peak periods, with drivers experiencing significant delays in both directions.
It has now been confirmed that the disruption is being caused by Openreach roadworks, with two-way temporary traffic lights installed at Monkton Hill earlier this morning. The works are scheduled to remain in place until 6pm tomorrow.
Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys, consider alternative routes where possible, and expect congestion to continue throughout the day and into tomorrow.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
