Weymouth will once again play host to one of the UK’s biggest sporting events on Sunday 14 September 2025, when hundreds of athletes take on the IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon. Road Closures and Traffic Impacts:

To keep both athletes and spectators safe, a number of road closures and restrictions will be in place across Weymouth, Preston, Osmington, Broadmayne, Dorchester, and surrounding villages. Key impacts include:

Commercial Road: closed 06:00 – 16:30

Maiden Street & East Street: one-way reversed 06:00 – 17:30

Custom House Quay, South Parade, The Esplanade to Alexandra Gardens: closed 06:00 – 17:30

The Esplanade (southbound): closed 06:00 – 19:00

Lodmoor Car Park: closed 19:00, 9 September – 18:00, 15 September

Pavilion Car Park: no vehicle exit on race day 06:00 – 17:30

Preston / Bowleaze / Osmington / Broadmayne

Preston Road: closed with convoy system 06:30 – 10:15 and 10:14 – 14:00

South Down Avenue: closed 09:00 – 16:00

Littlemoor Road (eastbound): closed 06:30 – 13:45

Dorchester, Crossways, Puddletown (Bike Course Areas)

B3390 to Pallington Heath: closed 07:00 – 10:45

Warmwell Road & Redbridge Road: closed during morning race hours (approx 07:00 – 11:00)

Parking Restrictions:

Beach Car Park (DT3 6HS): no access 04:00 – 18:00 on race day

Recommended alternatives: Mount Pleasant Park & Ride, Swannery Car Park

Drivers should expect delays, follow diversion signage, and allow extra time when travelling in and around Weymouth.
