Fire crews were called to investigate a fire alarm activation in Weymouth yesterday evening, prompting a swift response and an unconventional entry into a property.
A spokesperson for the fire service said:
“We were called at 4:51pm yesterday (7 December) with reports of a fire alarm sounding at a property on St Thomas Street, Weymouth. One crew from Weymouth attended and on arrival could hear an alarm sounding from a flat above a commercial premises. As they were unable to contact the building owner, firefighters used a ladder to gain access through a second storey window to investigate further. A full inspection of the property was carried out and no fire was found. Our stop came back at 5:43pm.”
The incident resulted in no injuries and no damage, with the alarm determined to be a false call. Firefighters confirmed that the premises were safe before leaving the scene.
