A family is facing unimaginable heartbreak after the sudden passing of their beloved mum while she was in Africa, and they are now appealing to the public for help to bring her home to the UK.

Already devastated by their loss, the family has been confronted with an overwhelming financial burden. Before their mum’s body can be released and repatriated, outstanding medical and hospital bills must be paid, costs which currently stand at £28,000 for medical care alone, with additional funeral and repatriation fees still to come.

Until these bills are settled, the family is unable to bring her home to lay her to rest.

“This is the last thing any family should have to deal with while grieving,” they said. “We are desperate to bring our mum home, where she belongs, surrounded by her family, so we can say goodbye properly and give her the dignity and peace she deserves.”

The family has launched a GoFundMe appeal in the hope that community support can help ease the burden during this profoundly painful time. Any funds raised will go directly towards medical fees, repatriation costs, and funeral director expenses.

Their mum is remembered as a loving and caring person who meant everything to her children and family. Her loss has left a hole that can never be filled.

Rhiannon, one of her four children, said:

“We’re all really devastated. Mum leaves behind four children, myself included, who love her so, so much. Her hospital bill is £28,000 and that is just the medical bill. We are really hoping we can negotiate this and get it down a little bit, as we then still have funeral fees to pay to give her the proper service she deserves.

information ourselves at this current time. Because she is abroad, it has proven quite difficult, but we will not stop until we get our mum home where she belongs.”

The family says that any donation, no matter how small, would make a meaningful difference. For those unable to give financially, simply sharing the appeal is another powerful way to help.

“This situation feels impossible,” the family added. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who takes the time to read our story, for your kindness, your prayers, and your support during this unimaginably painful time.”
