Attempted Robbery in Weymouth: Dorset Police Issue Appeal for Information

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted robbery in Weymouth. The incident took place on Rylands Lane between 3pm and 3.30pm on Thursday, 13 November 2025.

According to police reports, a 12-year-old boy was walking along the road when he was approached from behind by a man who attempted to snatch his mobile phone. The boy managed to keep hold of the device, and the suspect fled the scene.

The man is described as white, in his 20s, around five feet eight inches tall and of medium build, with dirty blond hair. He was reportedly wearing a black Puffa-style jacket, black jogging bottoms and white high-top trainers, and carrying a small side bag.

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen an individual matching this description in the area at the time—or anyone with relevant dashcam footage—to come forward.
