Community radio station Air107.2 has announced it will cease broadcasting on 30 November 2025, bringing an end to more than a decade of service to listeners across Weymouth, Portland, and surrounding areas.

Founded in 2011 and broadcasting on FM since 2012, Air 107.2 has been a fixture of the local media landscape, offering community news, local event coverage, and a platform for both emerging and experienced presenters. In a statement, the station expressed deep gratitude to everyone who has been part of its journey.

“It has been our absolute pleasure to be able to share and promote community news and events for all these years,” the announcement reads. The team offered thanks to its *presenters, past and present, its advertisers, and most importantly, its listeners. Particular appreciation was extended to Remarkable Carpets, a long-standing supporter that has advertised with the station consistently.

Despite its strong community ties, Air 107.2 revealed that financial pressures have made it impossible to continue. The station relies heavily on advertising income to cover operating costs—an increasingly difficult challenge in recent years. “Our future has been in the balance for a while,” the statement continues, “but unfortunately, at this time our costs exceed our income and we are not viable.”

Before signing off for the final time, the team intends to host an extra-special last day of broadcasting, celebrating the station’s history and the community it has served for nearly 15 years. Listeners are encouraged to tune in and share the moment.

“Thank you again for listening and supporting,” the station concluded.

Air 107.2’s closure marks the end of an era for community media in Weymouth and Portland, leaving many residents reflecting on the important role the station has played in local life.
