A 23-year-old man from Weymouth appeared before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court in August 2025 in connection with serious allegations involving prohibited images of a child.
Frederic Oosthuizen, of Weymouth, was charged with possessing 245 prohibited images of a child. The case was listed under reference 55CH0067725. During that initial hearing, Oosthuizen did not enter a plea.
He returned to the same court on 5 December, when magistrates were told he now faces further accusations, including possessing a prohibited image of a child and making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child. As with the earlier appearance, Oosthuizen did not speak during the hearing and was represented by a legal representative.
The court ordered that Oosthuizen be remanded to custody pending a future hearing. Magistrates also directed that a psychological report be prepared before the next court date.
Police confirmed that investigations into the allegations are ongoing. The offences are treated with the utmost seriousness under UK law due to their nature and the potential harm involved.
Oosthuizen’s appearance before the court was brief. No evidence was heard at this stage, and no plea was entered. The case will now proceed through the courts, with a trial date to be scheduled, at which evidence is expected to be examined in greater detail.
Oosthuizen remains in custody until his next court appearance.
